KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – While the time for setting New Year's resolutions has passed, JoAnn Saccato, MA, author of the forthcoming book, “Mindful and Intentional Living: A Path to Peace, Clarity, Freedom and Joy,” invites us to "Sow Our Seeds of Intention for 2018" at this month's Companion Circle.

The educational and social gathering is Monday, Feb. 19, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at A Positive Light Center for Spiritual Awakening, located at 6470 Kelsey Creek Drive in Kelseyville.

The event is open to the public and offered by donation.

"Our recent weather isn't reflecting it, but we're still in the 'wintering over' stage of nature's seasonal cycle," said Saccato. "Seeds, while not visible, are deep in the earth's nourishing embrace, readying to germinate. It's a perfect time to mirror the outer stillness of winter, listening for our heart's passionate calling."

A mindfulness teacher and life coach, Saccato believes honoring the heart's authentic intention leads to greater fulfillment, meaning and happiness.

She will guide participants through a series of meditations and inquiries designed to help illuminate the heart's calling and culminate in a clear path of intention for 2018.

"For me, New Year's resolutions come and go quickly, but sowing seeds of intention happens at a more genuine level and so last for a longer period," said Saccato. "These authentic aspirations are much easier to commit to and bring into fruition, because they resonate so clearly with our heart's deepest natural expression."

Companion Circles are monthly gatherings for those curious about or committed to a mindfulness practice. The circles occur on the third Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The evening includes a guided mindfulness exercise, question and answer period, social mingling and month's topic presentation.

Attendees are invited to wear comfortable clothing, bring a journal, and, optionally, a simple finger food to share. Tea and water are served.

There is a suggested donation of $10, though no one is turned away. A portion of proceeds are donated to Asian elephant rescue efforts.
