Democratic Club to host judicial and district attorney candidates March 14

LOWER LAKE, Calif. – The Lake County Democratic Club will host guest speakers judicial candidate Shanda Harry and district attorney candidate Susan Krones at its next meeting on Wednesday, March 14.

The club will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Lower Lake United Methodist Church Social Hall, 16255 Second St. The meeting is open to the public.

Harry, who currently serves as deputy county counsel at the county of Lake, is a candidate for Superior Court judge, Department 4.

Harry has 17 years of legal expertise and an extensive background as deputy county counsel, deputy district attorney, tribal prosecutor/Indian Child Welfare Act attorney and litigation associate for several large law firms.

She has experience in all aspects of criminal, governmental and civil law including environmental, child welfare, employment, entertainment, copyright, contract, land use and general business litigation at the federal and state court level.

Harry is a member of the Lake County and federal bar associations. Locally, she is a member of Soroptimists and 100+ Women Strong and supports Lake County's annual high school mock trial competition.

She is a graduate of UCLA and UCLA School of Law.

Krones has 25 years of experience prosecuting criminal cases in Lake County in both the family support and criminal divisions, where she prosecuted violent felonies including murder, child sexual assault, domestic violence, vehicular and animal abuse. She was instrumental in establishing the first child interview center in Lake County for victims of sexual assault.

Krones is a U.S. Army veteran having served as a JAG attorney, reaching the rank of captain. While in the military she served as a prosecutor and a Medical Board Advocate for soldiers.

While stationed in Germany during Operation Desert Shield, she served as a trial defense attorney and then chief of the civil division in Stuttgart, Germany.

Locally, Krones serves on the Lake County Arts Council Board, the Lake County Community Radio Board and is a member of 100 Women Strong, the Lake County Bar Association and the California District Attorneys' Association.

She received her law degree from UC Hastings College and her undergraduate degree cum laude in history from UCLA.
