KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 8-8 of Lake County, is once again offering state-approved boating safety classes that will enable you to obtain your California Boater Card.
The next boating safety class will be held on Saturday, March 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Konocti Bay Sailing Club, located at Braito's Marina on Buckingham Point, 1555 Eastlake Drive in Kelseyville.
The California State law, SB 941, requiring vessel operators to pass an approved boating safety course, became effective on Jan. 1, 2018.
Anyone age 20 or younger is required to carry a boater card issued by the California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways when operating any motorized vessel including a personal watercraft.
On passing Flotilla 8-8’s class, participants will receive a US Coast Guard certificate that will support their application for the boaters card.
The cost for the class is $25.
Classes are limited to 10 and reservations are required.
Please call 707-657-3029 for reservations and additional information.
