LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Women’s Civic Club has started its new season off and running with donations for two very important local organizations.

At its monthly general meeting at Riviera Hills Country Club on Friday, Oct. 4, checks were presented to Donna Marschall of Sponsoring Survivorship and Janine Smith-Citron and Ruth Lincoln of Hospice Services of Lake County.

These are just two of the 15 organizations and concerns that LWCC will be contributing to over the course of its 2019-20 season.

Upcoming fundraisers, the activities that allow the LWCC to turn so many gifts and donations from local businesses and individuals into larger sums of money that they are able to put back into the community, have been scheduled and planning and execution are under way.

It is never too early to get started on your Christmas shopping and the LWCC Annual Holiday Craft Fair being held on Nov. 2 at Kelseyville Presbyterian Church from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. is a great place to do it.

More than 20 vendors will be sharing their crafts. There will be a wide range of items from pottery, to amazing hand knit alpaca sweaters and beautiful cheese platters/cutting boards, leather goods and handmade purses in every shape and size.

You might also pick up your holiday sweet treats as ladies of the LWCC always provide an astonishing array of baked breads, cookies, cakes, muffins, and pies that you may freeze and enjoy when the time is right or savor right now with a fresh cup of coffee from the snack bar where Cheryl Robbins always provides homemade muffins in the morning and delicious chile, hot dogs and tortellini soup in the afternoon.

In May, be ready for the 27th annual Mad Hatter’s Luncheon to be held on May 9 at Boutique Winery. This year’s theme is “International Intrigue.”

A wide range of costumes and cuisine, as well as a locally sponsored fashion show will be enjoyed by all who attend, as will a live and silent auction full of surprises.

Your local businesses, many of whom are responsible for so many of these prizes, show incredible support for the Lakeport Women’s Civic Club every year and the club cannot thank them enough.

If you would like to be a part of this very energetic, creative group of women who have been rallying to meet the needs of our community for 99 years this coming March 2020, call Club President Julie Hernaez at 707-279-2625.
