LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake County Department of Public Works will soon be starting its annual Roadside Weed Abatement Program through the application of herbicides along certain county-maintained roads.

Should residents or property owners with frontage along roads previously noticed as well as the roads listed below desire that no weed abatement occur adjacent to their residence or property, they must contact the Department of Public Works prior to Feb. 28, unless a previous request for “no spray” was submitted to DPW.

If you would like to remove an existing “no spray” status, you must contact DPW at 707-263-2341.

If your property already has a “no spray” status, please take a moment to check for the green and/or red “spray” and “no spray” paddles marking your property along the roadway. If the paddles have been removed, please contact DPW immediately to have them replaced.

As a reminder, property owners who do not wish their property frontage to be sprayed are responsible for maintaining their frontage in such a way that does not create nuisance conditions.

While property owners can request that their frontage not be sprayed, they must otherwise maintain their frontage to avoid creating a public nuisance that could be caused by overgrown weeds such as fire hazaRoad, aesthetics, sight distances, etc.

To assist those property owners who object to spraying, DPW will review their proposed maintenance plans at no charge and issue a no-fee encroachment permit to perform the maintenance as necessary.

One or more of the herbicides Surf Ammo AMS, total TNV, Esplanade 200 CS herbicide, Direx 4L, and Brandt Tripleline Defoamer may be used.

The following roads will be treated this year:

Bachelor Valley Road, Bell Hill Road, Big Valley Road, Bottle Rock Road, Butts Canyon Road, Clark Drive, Clover Valley Road, Crystal Lake Way, E. Highland Springs Road, East Road, Finley East Road, Gaddy Lane, Harrington Flat Road, High Valley Road, Highland Springs Road, Hill Road, Hill Road East, Keeling Ave, Konocti Bay Road, Konocti Road, Lakeshore Blvd, Live Oak Drive, Loch Lomond Road, New Long Valley Road, Nice/Lucerne Cutoff, North Dr, Park Way, Point Lakeview Road, Robin Hill Drive, Scotts Valley Road, Sky Park Drive, Socrates Mine Road, Spruce Grove Road, Sulphur Bank Road, Sulphur Creek Road, Verna Way, Westlake Road, Wight Way and Witter Springs Road.
