Citizens for Healing meets July 10

LAKEPORT, Calif. — Citizens for Healing will hold its next regular meeting on Sunday, July 10, at 10 a.m. in Library Park in Lakeport.

The volunteer group of Lake County residents has been working towards changing the name of Kelseyville to Konocti.

In an effort to foster greater participation from the community, they will be meeting in county parks and other public venues around the lake every month.

“Hosting our meetings in different locations around the county may allow for that participation and a chance for dialogue with people who may or may not agree with the name change,” said Lorna Sides.

The group will also continue to Zoom the meetings so those who can’t or don’t want to attend in person can still be involved.

To request a link to Zoom our meetings visit www.citizensforhealing.org.

Those who have heard the horrific stories about Andrew Kelsey, the man after whom the town is named, will know why they believe the town’s name needs to change. But for those who have not, or are interested in learning more, the group has historical documents and writings available to read on their website.

The group is prepared to register Lake County voters at every meeting, and hopes to schedule interesting speakers and presenters each month.

The monthly meetings will be at 10 a.m. during the summer months. Meeting locations will rotate around the lake and will be announced each month.
