Robert (Bob) Henry Vollmer

Bob Vollmer lived a very exciting life and will be missed.

Bob was born and grew up in Omaha, Neb. He graduated from the University of Nebraska then went on to receive his master's degree in musical composition from Northwestern University.

Bob joined the Air Force in 1951 and was soon asked by General Norstadt (“God Is My Copilot”) to lead the entertainment of the troops in the Korean and European theater. His command brought him to many countries to the delight of all the troops.

After the war Bob went to work for NBC TV in Chicago, directing and producing many television shows and programs.

He also spent many years playing the piano at the finest hotels in San Francisco; including the Fairmont and the Mark Hopkins.

In later years Bob became active in donating time at the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center in Lucerne, Calif., and other senior activities. He entertained for special events and played for many of the lunch crowds.

Bob was an avid photographer and accomplished sailor. He owned a sailboat building company and spent years sailing around the Pacific Rim.

In Bob's later years he spent enjoying the company of Louise Talley and together traveling the Pacific Coast and volunteering for and promoting the M.I.N.D. Institute.

Bob will be greatly missed and always remembered.
