KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Margaret (Maggie) Snider (nee Taylor) quietly passed away on Nov. 29, 2017, at her home in Kelseyville. She was 81.

She is survived by her children, Jay Snider, Scott Snider, Lauren Snider, Laura (nee Snider) Poste and Erin Snider, all of Kelseyville; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Snider, Nick Snider, Andrew Snider, Darin Snider, Nicole Snider, Jodi Snider, Michael Snider, Cedar Poste and David Poste; and her great-grandchildren, Brodie Snider, Macie Snider and Landyn Snider.

Born July 12, 1936, in Sebastopol, Calif., Maggie lived most of her life in the Bay Area and in the North Bay. She found her soulmate and partner for life when she married Duane Snider on New Year’s Eve in 1956.

Together they founded Snider's Speed Shop in Santa Clara, Calif.

Maggie and her five small children would often accompany her husband to racing events held at various tracks across the state.

In 1972 they moved their business and family to Kelseyville. They renamed the business Snider and Sons Automotive Machine Shop, now run by Maggie's sons.

While helping her husband, Maggie also held down various jobs. She worked for Konocti Harbor Inn, the Farm Bureau and Air Power Moen Planes. She also volunteered her time at the Lakeport Historic Courthouse Museum, giving guided tours which fed her passion for antiquities.

Maggie was very active and respected in the community. From involvement in her children's extracurricular activities such as Little League to running the local rodeo circuit to participating in the annual Passion of the Christ Easter play, to heading up and promoting the NCRA races at the Lakeport Speedway as their director for several years. Her tireless efforts were rewarded by the NCRA for Outstanding Operation of a Track by an Association.

In her spare time, Maggie enjoyed reading, needlepoint, music and writing short stories.

The funeral service for Maggie will be held at Chapel Of The Lakes Mortuary in Lakeport on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
