LAKEPORT, Calif. – Betty Gay Janowicz, 83, of Lakeport passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children on May 15, 2018.

Betty was born Feb. 2, 1935, in Merced, Calif., to George and Adeline Montgomery. The eldest of three children, Betty is survived by her sister, Darlene Brien and is preceded in death by her brother, George Montgomery Jr.

Betty is also preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Edward Janowicz.

After many years in Napa, they moved to Middletown and started raising raspberries at the Rocking J Ranch, later retiring and moving to Lakeport.

Betty enjoyed cooking and baking, which she made into a 25-year career. Even after she retired, she still loved to cook, bake and collect recipes and cookbooks. She also loved gardening, painting, coloring and reading. She was active in the Red Hat Society and TOPS, and spent several years as a Hospice volunteer.

She is survived by her children; Jennifer (Craig) Fletcher, Chris (Stephanie) Lilly, John Lilly and Dolly (Brian) Escobar; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Lakeport, on Wednesday, June 20, at 11 a.m. A celebration of her life will follow at her home.
