It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Barkley (Bark) Joseph Shannon of Holualoa, Hawaii, announce his unexpected but peaceful passing on Nov. 16, 2021, at his family's ranch at the age of 81.

Barkley was born and raised in Northern California, worked as a master mechanic and owned his own business in Hawaii.

He was married to Mary Shannon for 36 years and was a wonderful loving husband and father.

Barkley is survived by daughters, Janeen (Mel) Sanchietti and Darla (Jeff) Stone; sons, Clay (Angie) Shannon and Craig (Rikki) Shannon; and two stepsons, Jason (Summer) Roberson and Marcus (Rina) Roberson.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Betsy Opperman.

Bark loved his family and his friends. He loved to laugh and make people laugh, he never let an occasion pass without one of his many jokes or stories!

Ironically, Bark asked Mary to help him write a summary of his life. It says, “I am blessed! I have four wonderful, intelligent, compassionate children who are married to their perfect matches. With that I have 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. I have been very lucky.”

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 11:30 a.m. at the Home Ranch Ogulin House for close family and friends.

An additional celebration of life will be held in Hawaii at a later date.
