LAKEPORT, Calif. — Susanna (Sue) May Alexander, 97, of Lakeport passed away peacefully with family members by her side on July 16, 2022.

Sue was born in Los Angeles, California, on March 3, 1925, to Edwin and Hazel Guckert where she lived until she graduated from Montebello High School in 1943.

She met her husband-to-be, Jim Alexander, while working at the Summit Cafe on the Cajon Pass in San Bernardino County.

After their marriage, Sue and Jim made their home in the Mojave Desert, where they raised their four children. Sue ran a family owned grocery store in Yermo, California, for many years.

In 1964, the family moved to Upper Lake, California, and decided to make Lake County their home.

Sue is predeceased by her husband, Jim Alexander; and granddaughter, Mary Lynn Alexander.

She is survived by her sons: Michael (Barbara), Brian and Daniel; daughter, Sharon Murray; and daughter-in-law, Linda Alexander; grandchildren, Laura, Pete, Steven, Tom, Dan, Heather, Josh, Amy, Jim, Lisa, Katie and Kelsi; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Known as "Grandma Sue" by many, she will be greatly missed by all.

A private service will be held at the Upper Lake Cemetery in the fall.
