Konocti Unified School Board meets Wednesday

LOWER LAKE – The Konocti Unified School District Board of Trustees will hold a budget and staffing revisions workshop beginning at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20.


The meeting will take place at the Carol McClung Conference Center, 9430 Lake St., Lower Lake.


Board members are President Herb Gura, Clerk Anita Gordon, and members Mary Silva, Carolynn Jarrett and Hank Montgomery, and student member Emmalena Illia.


Items will include a presentation by Nancy Walker regarding fiscal review of district budget at 6:45 p.m.; report from the Budget Advisory Committee and will consider giving direction to the District Administration regarding establishing an Irrevocable Trust or other options to finance the unfunded liability for Other Post Employment Benefits at 7 p.m.


At 7:20 p.m., the board will consider options for offering, or not offering, the STRS Golden Handshake Early Retirement Incentive, and may direct staff to proceed accordingly.


The Board will review various categorical funding and grants at the elementary schools as well as review projected categorical funding for 2008-09 at 7:40 p.m.


At 8 p.m. a budget workshop will be held, including a review of staffing plan ratios, reductions in force and funding. The board may consider giving direction to staff regarding budget cuts or other cost containment for the 2007-08 and 2008-09 fiscal years.


The board also will discuss employment offers and consider adopting Resolution 11-07-08 Amendment to Reduction in Force.


The next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees will take place on March 5 at 6:15 p.m. in the Carol McClung Center at the district office.
