Carlé Chronicle: Updates on scholarships and supporters

LOWER LAKE, Calif. – Seniors! We have some exciting scholarships for you guys so make sure you pay attention.

The first scholarship is from Phil Harris. Mr. Harris’ scholarship will be about you and your life story, being involved with the community and how much you have achieved in school. What Mr. Harris is looking for when applying for this scholarship is a written essay, a resume, your transcripts and a letter of recommendation. Mr. Harris will be picking one outstanding person to receive $500 and the deadline is two weeks before graduation.

The second scholarship is from Cheri Johnson. Ms. Johnson is offering this scholarship to two Carlé students. She has been giving us these donations for about six years now and we just want to let her know how grateful we are. The two students will receive $300 for their schooling.

Finally, Carlé will award $27,000 from the Rustici scholarship fund. Russell Rustici was a World War II veteran – he won a purple heart at the Battle of the Bulge – and worked with teachers Alan and Angie Siegel alongside many dedicated Carlé students for many years.

When he passed away he left a donation of $300,000 for Carlé to be used to benefit the further education of our students. Angie Siegel will speak about Russell at our graduation.

Recently Carlé’s media classes made mugs for the many graduates who work at dentist Dr. Hewlett’s office.

Dr. Hewlett has been a longtime supporter of Carlé ordering mugs for a number of years and he has hired many Carlé graduates.

We wanted to thank him and acknowledge the many successful graduates he has hired by making them something special.

The students that went to the gold level trip to Alliance Redwoods were Marco Anguiano, David Bejar, Jose Carrillo, Adrian Carpenter, Tarah Denson and Gabrielle Rozelski.

We would like to thank our special chaperones Angie and Phil Harris for taking our students on this amazing and exciting field trip.

We would like to congratulate David Jones for receiving student of the week! David has really put out the effort this year and has put himself in range to easily graduate next year. Thanks for all the hard work and keep up the great job.

Relative newcomer Ty Rankin also won student of the week based on his great attitude and hard work since he has come to this school. Ty has been a real addition to this school.

Announcements coming up in the next article are an overview of how prom went, an interview with our secretary Angie Harris and how great everyone did on state testing.

Yailin Sanchez is a student at Carlé Continuation High School.
