Carlé Chronicle: Update on the latest grading period and holiday activities

LOWER LAKE, Calif. – We are ending our third grading period (or semester) with awards, trips and gifts.

The Gold level trip led by Alan and Angie Siegel to Scandia was a great success.

“The trip was really fun,” Alan Siegel said. “Everyone enjoyed themselves and were very sweet. Everyone got along great and played a lot of games with each other.”

Bookmarks, made by the media class, for staff and students of Carlé High, Highlands Academy and Blue Heron were delivered Thursday and Friday.

A big thanks to Mrs. Koehler for her generously bringing cookies in for each student.

Congratulations to Hunter Kaher for earning last week’s student of the week and Ana Solorio for our latest student of the week. Kaher was nominated by Angie Siegel.

“Hunter is always respectful and mature. He does is best everyday and is always kind to others,” Angie Siegel said.

Solorio was nominated by teacher Lexi Fredricks. Fredricks commented positively of her student, “Ana was always a pleasure to have in the class with her smile and contagious laugh.”

Solorio is also one of Carlé’s latest graduates along with Juan Perales. Congratulations to the students named once again.

Our third grading period has officially come to an end on Friday, Dec. 21. Since it equals a semester at the local high schools this will be the last opportunity for Carlé students to return to the high schools as transfers are typically done by the beginning of the second semester. This will also allow Carlé to be able to pick up students who need our help to achieve their graduation.

A big thanks to student Harrison Price for delivering his key chains to the Northshore Fire Department. His next project will be to make keychains for the Bay Area Firefighters. We look forward to seeing his work.

A special shout out to Carlé’s student government. They plan and are in charge of every school event and activities. Their last event for collaboration day was a “throwback Thursday” theme, where we played classroom games that we played as children.

There were different activities in four classrooms. Adrian Carpenter and Crystal Quezadas hosted Four Corners, Ian Hueton and Howard Womack hosted Heads Up 7 Up, Ta’Nari Dukes and Oscar Neuman hosted Hangman, and Gage Thayer and Nico Costillos hosted Who Left The Room.

They also sponsored a holiday spirit week. Monday was holiday hat day, Tuesday was pj day, Wednesday was scarf day, Thursday was Stan Lee day, and Friday was ugly sweater day. Thanks you guys for all the effort put into our school.

We also want to take the time to show appreciation to Bruno Sabatier, Clearlake’s departing mayor, for attending our school and motivating and helping students to apply for college.

Hope everyone has a good two week break and happy holidays!

Crystal Quezadas is a student at Carlé Continuation High School.
