CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Redbud branch of the Lake County Library will offer free beginning classes in English as a second language.

Classes will take place on Wednesdays on May 8, 15 and 29 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The library is located at 14785 Burns Valley Road in Clearlake.

Elder Patrick Mullin and Sister Linda Mullin will teach the classes. Between them they have extensive experience in teaching ESL and Spanish. Elder Mullin says, “The classes will emphasize pronunciation and grammar. We'll talk about topics the students want so we'll do that, but pronunciation and grammar will always be a focus, whatever the topic. Speaking is the focus, not writing. We'll learn a little English, but we're going to have fun doing it“

The library will supply the textbook for use during class, scratch paper for taking notes, and pens and pencils. The class is free and no registration is required.

Las clases se llevarán a cabo los días miércoles, los días 8, 15 y 29 de mayo de 5 a 7 de la tarde. La biblioteca está situada en 14785 Burns Valley Road, Clearlake.

El élder Patrick Mullin y la hermana Linda Mullin darán las clases de inglés. Entre ambos tienen extensa experiencia en dar clases de inglés como segundo idioma y clases de español. El élder Mullin dice que “las clases van a recalcar la pronunciación y la gramática. Hablaremos de los temas que los estudiantes quieran estudiar, pero la pronunciación y la gramática siempre serán el enfoque. El hablar inglés, y no el escribir, será el centro de atención. Aprenderemos un poquito del inglés, pero vamos a divertirnos mucho haciéndolo.”

La biblioteca suministrará los libros, el papel, y las plumas para tomar apuntes para el uso de los estudiantes durante la clase. La clase es gratis y no se requiere la inscripción.
