LAKE COUNTY, CAlif. — National Native American Heritage Month is celebrated each year in November.

All Lake County fourth grade students now have class sets of “Two Perspectives of Lake County, California Pomo History, Writings of Hubert Howe Bancroft and Indigenous Resources.”

This book has adult and children's versions.

The Thrival History Project provided over 1,000 books for all the school children so they can learn more about the Pomo People in Lake County.

The book has an 1880 author’s perspective and Native People’s perspective.

Lucerne Elementary School teacher Amy Kunis said, “My students really liked how the book presented the different views. We have spent a lot of time studying the native tribes. We went to the Lakeport Museum to learn more, so they were very interested (in this book)!”

The project is very grateful for the donations for this book giveaway.

Thank you to Lake County tribes, the Circle of Native Minds, the Lake County Museums, the Judge's Breakfast in Clearlake and Six Sigma in Lower Lake. Many more have helped by buying copies which also help fund student purchases.

The book also is available on Amazon.
