Libraries to host Medicare programs

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Library will host two different programs on Medicare from the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) serving Medicare beneficiaries in the six North Bay counties.

These programs are free and open to the public.

On March 31 at 2 p.m. Andrea Bruhnke will cover “Medicare Fundamentals” at the Lakeport branch of Lake County Library located at 1425 N. High St. This program covers Part A, Part B, Part D, advantage plans, penalties, timelines and more.

On April 6 at 2 p.m., Alan Piombo, outreach coordinator for HICAP, will speak about “Understanding Your Medicare” at Redbud Library, 14785 Burns Valley Rd. in Clearlake.

He will cover details that could become problems when portions of your Part A or B claim is denied, cost saving considerations, and your rights to purchase a Medigap Supplemental Plan. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.
