CLEAR LAKE STATE PARK – Brad Barnwell will lead a bird walk in Clear Lake State Park at 8:30 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 22. Meet him at the visitor center ramp.

Barnwell has been studying and photographing the birds of the park for several years. He knows the best places to look for them and will share interesting details of the secret lives of many of the sightings.

Many photographers and birders come to this Audubon-designated important bird area (IBA) because of the abundance of birdlife in the park.

Recent sightings include bald eagles, great horned owls, sharp-shinned and Cooper’s hawks, and peregrine falcons. Many songbirds stay in the park all winter. This is also a time when migrating birds may show up at any time.

Binoculars, bird books and cameras are always great for added pleasure when birding. Rain cancels the walk.

Clear Lake State Park Interpretive Association sponsors nature and bird walks in the park on the second and fourth Sunday of each month. There is no entrance fee to the park for participating in walks.

Clear Lake State Park is located at 5300 Soda Bay Road, Kelseyville.
