Kelseyville Methodist Church meets at Clear Lake State Park May 31

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Kelseyville United Methodist congregation will engage the Holy Spirit in worship without the building in an outdoor Sunday service beginning at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, May 31.

“Jesus often connected to 'the people' in an outdoor setting,” said Lay Pastor Voris Brumfield, “and we are excited to present an unplugged worship service in a natural setting.”

The May 31 service will be held at Clear Lake State Park in group campground A.

“If you haven't been to church for a while, this is a way to try it out,” said Pastor Brumfield. “This service is the First Sunday after Pentecost, Peace with Justice Sunday and Trinity Sunday, recognizing the mystery of the Triune nature of God.”

Diane Gunther, co-leader of the Girl Scout Troop that meets at the church, suggested the relocated service because the troop wanted to conclude their campout in a service project.

The worship service will be 45 minutes and will include music, singing, listening to nature followed by sharing a meal prepared by the Girl Scouts and their parents.

Visitors and guests are welcome to this new service.

The congregation will return to their 70-year-old sanctuary in downtown Kelseyville on June 7.

Carpools will leave the church at 8:30 a.m. May 31 at 3210 Main St., Kelseyville. Or you may drive directly to the park at 5300 Soda Bay Road for the 9:15 a.m. service.
