Authorities find missing man dead in Clear Lake
The body of Lee Allen Woodruff, 42, was found in Clear Lake on Tuesday afternoon.
Woodruff was reported missing after he was last seen leaving his home on Aztec Road in Kelseyville on Monday evening.
On Tuesday morning, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook about Woodruff’s disappearance.
Authorities asked neighbors to look in their backyards and other structures in the event he was disoriented and seeking shelter.
Later on Tuesday morning, the sheriff’s office said more than 40 of its Search and Rescue members were in the Kelseyville Rivieras and around Konocti Harbor searching for Woodruff, using the Galilee Lutheran Church Community Center as a command post for the search.
Also taking part in the search were K-Corps, Mendocino Sheriff Search and Rescue, Marin County Search and Rescue, Sonoma County Search and Rescue and the Northshore Fire Dive Team.
The sheriff’s office said that on 1 p.m. Tuesday the Northshore Dive Team found Woodruff’s body in the water near the shoreline of Clear Lake.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Unit notified Woodruff’s next of kin.
The sheriff’s office said a coroner’s investigation into the circumstances of Woodruff’s death is ongoing.
Lake County News asked the sheriff’s office for an update on the investigation but as of Wednesday no additional details were available.
