Lakeport Police Department seeks leads in felony burglary

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person responsible for an early morning burglary at a local restaurant.
At 6:45 a.m. Sunday an individual wearing a black hood and mask entered the back of Renee’s Cafe and took a purse belonging to an employee, according to a Lakeport Police report.
At the time of the incident the staff were preparing to open for customers, police said.
Surveillance video, shown above, caught the theft on tape. It showed the masked subject come into the building and avoid looking at the surveillance camera. The person went directly to a cupboard where the purse was kept, took it and fled.
The Lakeport Police Department said it is seeking the subject responsible for felony burglary and grand theft.
A $5,000 reward has been offered for information resulting in arrest and conviction of the subject, police said.
