LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake County Silver Foundation has been hard at work, planning for its fourth annual Senior Summit, which it said it is postponing due to concerns about COVID-19.

Designed to honor seniors for their inspirational lives, achievements and continuing legacy, the foundation is heartened by the many wonderful supporting donors and the joyful excitement expressed by seniors registering early for the event.

A focus of the Senior Summit revolves around providing health and wellness information and resources to Lake County seniors and elders.

Organizers said they have had one eye toward making this the most successful event ever and the other watching the world cope with a new and very contagious virus.

As they near the April 4 event day, the health concerns for large gatherings continue to unfold, with seniors being among the most vulnerable.

Because of the uncertainties of how to both protect elders and provide an optimum experience the foundation said it is postponing the event until better information is available.

“We will release a new date as soon as possible,” said Foundation President Jim Steele. “In the meantime we are developing health and resource information through a newsletter for Lake County seniors. The newsletter will be a continuing outlet for information focused on senior issues and news,” he said.

Inspirational Senior Award nominations will be held until the event is rescheduled and all who have already registered for the April 4 event date will be notified by phone.
